Unvaccinated forced to comply
WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - Multiple families choosing not to vaccinate their children are being reported to Child Protective Services (CPS) over "educational neglect."
The Intercept revealed that "in Washington, D.C., at least 90 families with COVID-19 safety concerns have been referred" to CPS, which is putting these families under investigation. The Department of Health and Human Services defines "educational neglect" as a parent or guardian's failure "to enroll a child of mandatory school age in school or to provide appropriate homeschooling or needed special education training."
One D.C. parent, Kavitha Kasargod-Staub, decided to keep her children, who were unvaccinated, out of
school, owing to COVID policies — which she believed were inefficient. Kasargod-Staub's children and unvaccinated children of many other families have been denied the opportunity to receive online education. Now, many families holding their kids back from in-person learning are facing serious investigation led by CPS workers.
Kasargod-Staub was interrogated this
fall by CPS and was asked questions concerning monthly income, mental
health diagnoses of herself and her husband, as well as for documented
proof of her children's living conditions and proof that necessary
nourishment is being provided to her children.
Kasargod-Staub told The Intercept, "I cannot even imagine how terrifying it is for many of our less fortunate neighbors who also have COVID concerns right now."
While Kasargod-Staub chose to keep her children at home over safety concerns, many believe that parents, who push back on school systems that require masks or social distancing, could face similar investigations.
In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced all in-person students will be mandated to get the vaccine once their age group is approved to be vaccinated by the Food and Drug Administration. This means children as young as 5 years old could be forced to get the jab by the end of this school year. Already, children ages 12 and up are facing a mandate to get jabbed.
There's little to no recourse for unvaccinated children under the age of 18 in California. The Oakland, California, district board of education approved a plan this week that would force unvaccinated students to either unenroll from school or push them into an "independent-study school." There's a push, however, for medical freedom in California.
A San Diego–based group, Let Them Choose, has sued the San Diego Unified School District over its vaccine mandate. The lawsuit alleges the mandate hurts students: "Keeping healthy children out of the classroom is contrary to California law, is not necessary to reduce cases of COVID-19 in schools and is not in the best interest of students, parents or school districts."
The San Diego school district offers no "personal beliefs" exemption to the vaccine, regardless of how state laws allow personal exemptions to be used. School board president Richard Barrera has not allowed personal exemptions because he fears families will use it as a loophole, which will lead to lower vaccination results.
The pressure over vaccines placed on parents by California school board officials has been extreme. In a jaw-dropping video, during a Los Alamitos Unified School District meeting, school board president Marlys Davidson hurled an obscenity at a parent who encouraged the board not to support a mask or vaccine mandate. The parent expressed her sentiment before Davidson informed her that her time to speak was up. While parents in attendance began clapping for her, a clearly flustered Davidson can be heard muttering, "F**k you."
Parents of unvaccinated children, concerned on how the school system is handling the spread of coronavirus, are now facing not only obscenities by school board officials but also investigation by CPS. This comes in the wake of parents expressing anti-mask or anti–critical race theory sentiments in schools having to face investigation by the FBI. It seems parents who push back against the status quo could be targeted by the left-leaning establishment.
