On February 17, 1941, almost 10 months before Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor, Life magazine carried a lengthy essay by its publisher, Henry Luce, entitled “The American Century.” The son of Presbyterian missionaries, born in China in 1898 and raised there until the age of 15, Luce essentially transposed the certainty of religious dogma into the certainty of a nationalistic mission couched in the name of internationalism.
Luce acknowledged that the United States could not police the whole world or attempt to impose democratic institutions on all of mankind. Nonetheless, “the world of the 20th Century,” he wrote,

“if it is to come to life in any nobility of health and vigor, must be to a significant degree an American Century.” The essay called on all Americans “to accept wholeheartedly our duty and our opportunity as the most powerful and vital nation in the world and in consequence to exert upon the world the full impact of our influence, for such purposes as we see fit and by such measures as we see fit.”

As the U.S. military faces increased competition from near-peer competitors, the chief of naval operations said March 29 he would start keeping details of some of the Navy’s most high profile technology programs closer to the vest.

One example is laser technology, which will be critical for the service, Adm. John Richardson said during a Booz Allen Hamilton-hosted summit focusing on directed energy in Washington, D.C.

“The implications of getting directed energy out on the field … will be transformational” for the service, he said. The Navy has already deployed the Laser Weapon System, or LaWS, a 30-kilowatt system, on the USS Ponce.

However, during the summit Richardson declined to delve into further details about its laser programs. When asked by National Defense for updates on LaWS, and a test of a 150-kilowatt laser aboard a ship that Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Bill Moran announced last year, he said he would not share them, citing competition between the United States and its adversaries.

Today I will explain why America is going to hell, and probably deserves it. It has to do with conservatives and liberals, who may be thought of as Woofers and Tweeters. They should all be taken out and shot. The country would then be a much better place. Worth a try, anyway.
Some observations:
(1) Liberals posit the equality of groups that are not equal, attribute the inevitable differences of outcome to discrimination, and try to eradicate them through regulation, affirmative action, and punishment of those noticing the differences. This doesn’t work, assuring a pretext for indignation that is non-depletable, like the liver of Prometheus.
Here we have the bedrock of American politics.

In reconstructing the American decision to enter the Great War, the relationship between Colonel Edward Mandell House and his “alter ego,” Woodrow Wilson, is crucial. Robert Higgs has called the Colonel “one of the most important Americans of the twentieth century.” House played the central role in choosing and grooming Woodrow Wilson to become a presidential candidate, a role he relished. We could regard him as a significant historical actor even if this achievement had been his only one. But the rest of the story is that House became an “intimate” friend of Woodrow Wilson, Wilson’s “alter ego,” as the two liked to say. Wilson’s chief of staff, Joseph Tumulty, testified to this close relationship, as did dozens of others. Ultimately, House would become a special roving emissary of Woodrow Wilson in Europe from 1914 onward. In this capacity, and through a large private network of highly influential friends, House’s influence on American intervention in World War I can hardly be exaggerated. So who was this very important American?

Today in the 1990s the Federal Reserve quietly, and 
protected from any public examination or accounting, continues 
its never challenged monopoly of the money supply. 

Its twofold function is: (a) to regulate the flow of credit and 
money for specific economic objectives, and (b) to supervise 
commercial banks, i.e., mostly itself. 

The central policymaking body of the FRS is the Board of 
Governors appointed by the President and confirmed by the 
Senate. Each of the 12 regional banks has its own directors. These 
are divided into three classes. Class A directors represent the 
banking system, Class B directors represent industry and Class C, 
the public, supposedly. 

In fact, Class C directors have never represented the public. 
It is not at all unusual for a banker to serve a term as a Class A 
director then go on and serve another term as a Class C director. 

The Federal Reserve is a private system owned by the banks 
(see figure below). Fed control over money is a private monopoly 
granted by Congress. 

It's so powerful that no Congressman dare ask simple 
questions.

As Americans become more informed and better educated about health, medicine, and nutrition and, increasingly, take more responsibility for decisions in these areas, they are starting to realize that the science they’ve been assured is settled is far from settled.

There is an upcoming protest in Washington, DC that, while it has received infinitely less coverage than other protests in our nation’s capital this year, may easily be the most important and urgent of all. It is the Revolution for Truth rally that will be held Friday, Mar. 31, 2017 at 1 pm at the JW Marriott Hotel (the forecasted rain has changed the rally location that was originally to be held at Union Square on Capitol Hill to the JW Marriott Hotel, 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue, Salons D & E).¹
The protest will “call on elected representatives in state legislatures and Congress to protect parental rights and civil liberties, and to restore transparency within government agencies responsible for ensuring the public health and safety in America.” The call also goes out to the “corporatized mainstream media for manufacturing ‘fake news’ that distorts the truth about environmental toxins, unsafe food and vaccine risks, which endangers our right to know and freedom to choose how we protect our health.”¹ ²

Google Ad Sense monitors website traffic and discovered last year that AFP’s Internet site, staffed by just one part-time employee, had, on average, nearly 400,000 different people reading a grand total of over 1.7 million pages on our website every month.

Harvard University has established a modern version of the Catholic Church’s Index Librorum Prohibitorum, a list of prohibited online publications which are tagged as “fake” and “false”, broadly following the politically tainted “List” of censored independent and alternative media. As we recall the Catholic Church’s Index was a list of books “deemed heretical, anti-clerical or lascivious”.1
Ex Cathedra, Harvard has decided in one fell swoop that virtually the entire US based “Alternative Media” pertaining to tens of thousands of authors would be categorized not only as fake news, but fake science, knowledge and analysis.
The Harvard Index however goes far beyond the Catholic Church’s Index which selectively banned books after careful reading, review and evaluation within the Church’s hierarchy. This frivolous decision by Harvard constitutes a violation of the most fundamental principles of university education which are debate, discussion, critique and analysis.
The Harvard Index acts as a Lynchpin. It establishes a “new normal”, a guideline to colleges and universities across the land, regarding what we can or cannot read, what we can or cannot write.
Is it a conspiracy? Yes it is. Harvard’s Index broadly undermines the foundation of University education. It instates academic mediocrity.

California Senate bill makes it a crime for nursing homes to use the ‘wrong’ pronoun

Now, the one-party state of California has a senate bill that will criminalize the use of “wrong” pronouns in the state’s long-term care facilities, as well as requiring identity documents from a resident who wants to use the opposite-sex bathroom, or prohibiting any sexual behavior among residents and visitors. Anyone found guilty of willfully or repeatedly violating any of these new rules will be charged with a misdemeanor.
On February 1, 2017, newly-elected state senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) introduced SB 219: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Resident’s Bill of Rights, which will make it a crime for nursing homes to use the “wrong” gender.

The road to Raqqa is now blocked by U.S. forces and their allies. The chances that Raqqa (and the surrounding region) will be returned to Syria are now slim to none. Foreign armies and their proxies are sharpening their carving knives.
U.S. Special Forces and Syrian Kurdish and Arab fighters have just captured a “strategic air base” from Islamic State in northern Syria; in doing so, they have also “blocked” the advance of the Syrian Army as it approaches Raqqa from the west:

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Sunday that they captured the Tabqa air base, 45km west of Raqqa, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group’s de facto capital in Syria.
Earlier this week, US forces airlifted SDF fighters behind ISIL lines to allow them to launch the Tabqa assault, and on Friday the alliance reached one of the dam’s entrances.
SDF forces were within 10km of Raqqa from the north, and aimed to effectively surround the city before launching an assault.
