Town Meeting on Dec. 5th at 6 pm at the Narragansett Middle School Auditorium
Use your vote. Make history. Stop the economic and environmental disaster plastic incineration would bring. Safeguard your future; your kids’ future… at Special Town Meeting on Dec. 5th at 6 pm at the Narragansett Middle School Auditorium. Please mark your calendars right now to remind yourself: Vote YES: Quality of Life!
Templeton Community Against Toxic Waste unites people who value health, natural resources, neighborhoods, clean economic development, and oppose environmental pollution.
Families here - again! - face a terrible threat to health and quality of life. At the same property that exposed residents to cancer causing chemicals, like dioxins soaking lawns where children play, is now a plan for an industrial size plastic waste incinerator spewing contamination 24/7. It’s called, “chemical recycling”, aka, “advanced recycling.”, to hide what it actually is. It’s not recycling: it’s incineration!
Our state would regulate a waste plastic incineration plant as solid waste disposal. The EPA defines it as solid waste incineration. The primary output, flammable pyrolysis oil, is planned to be transported by rail tank cars through many other communities on its way to be refined into toxic fuels; risking derailment disasters similar to East Palestine Ohio along the way. Little or no plastic is actually recycled. Other outputs are flammable gas and char. What’s left: toxic emissions, PFAS, micro-plastics…would enter your air and water.
Let’s not risk another train derailment with burning toxic plastic.
