There are many questions to ask about the war in Afghanistan. One that has been widely asked is whether it will turn out to be “Obama’s Vietnam.”1 This question implies another: Is this war winnable, or is it destined to be a quagmire, like Vietnam? These questions are motivated in part by the widespread agreement that the Afghan government, under Hamid Karzai, is at least as corrupt and incompetent as the government the United States tried to prop up in South Vietnam for 20 years.
Although there are many similarities between these two wars, there is also a big difference: This time, there is no draft. If there were a draft, so that college students and their friends back home were being sent to Afghanistan, there would be huge demonstrations against this war on campuses all across this country. If the sons and daughters of wealthy and middle-class parents were coming home in boxes, or with permanent injuries or post-traumatic stress syndrome, this war would have surely been stopped long ago. People have often asked: Did we learn any of the “lessons of Vietnam”? The US government learned one: If you’re going to fight unpopular wars, don’t have a draft – hire mercenaries!

That’s what the FDIC is all about. It insures everyone’s deposits up to a limit of $250,000. The limit used to be $100,000 but U.S. officials, for whatever reason, wanted to make depositors feel even more secure about keeping their money in the bank.

The last month has proved ill-boding for figures in the cryptocurrency industry as the heads of three major crypto companies have reportedly died mysteriously within a month of each other. Opinion | Last month, The Atlantic published an article by Dr. Emily Oster, an economics professor at Brown University, titled “Let’s Declare A Pandemic Amnesty.”
In the piece, Oster argues that, throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, we were plagued by a lack of true knowledge about the best way to react to the virus. Consequently, “almost every position was taken on every topic. And on every topic, someone was eventually proved right, and someone else was proved wrong.”
Because of this, Oster argues we should forgive those who were wrong and move on; after all, how could they be blamed for their position when all the information was not available? By doing this, she concludes, we can avoid “a repetitive doom loop” of negativity and address the issues—ranging from a dip in test scores to a rise in mental health problems—that we are now facing.
When CDC authors conducted a study showing that vaccinated individuals could still spread SARS-CoV-2, they could not get it published, even in the CDC’s own MMWR!
Background of the Study
In January 2022, ICAN, through its attorneys, filed legal requests with the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Wisconsin Department of Health for all communications of the CDC-affiliated authors of a pre-print study titled, “Shedding of Infectious SARS-CoV-2 Despite Vaccination.” The study, which appeared in medRXiv on August 24, 2021, found that “vaccinated persons can spread Delta.” Because at least one of the authors of this study was a CDC employee, and because the outcome cut against the CDC’s narrative, ICAN wanted to investigate.
In late March 2022, the University of Wisconsin-Madison produced 730 pages of records in response to ICAN’s request. Later, in April 2022, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services produced 70 pages of records regarding the same study. These documents show that the study’s authors, despite being employees of the CDC and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, struggled mightily to get their study published, likely because it highlighted that, as one of the authors put it, “fully vaccinated individuals are capable of shedding high viral loads.”

sovereignty is inherited. It is not something that simply devolves upon us by
virtue of winning a war. You have all inherited “sovereignty in your own right”

Neither Deutsche Welle nor the German government reveals who it is who gets to determine the unchallengeable war crimes.
Germany gave in to the Jewish lobbies and long ago criminalized “Holocaust denial.” I have wondered why. If the Holocaust is true, it can stand on the facts and remain undamaged by unsupported denials. What the criminalization of inquiry and debate does is to prevent us from knowing the true dimension and history of the Holocaust. My understanding from reading is that Austria, some other European countries and Canada do not permit any examination of the Holocaust. We are simply told that it is true, but it can’t be examined, and that is the end of it.
The Germans have suffered substantially from declared and unexamined “truths.” In World War I Germany was accused of its soldiers bayoneting Belgian babies. (In the 21st century a version of this falsehood was repeated against Iraqi troops in Kuwait.) The propaganda created enormous hatred for Germany. These decades later after the normalization of mothers bayoneting their own babies, it might not have the same effect. But what if it had been legislated a criminal act to investigate whether German soldiers murdered Belgian babies? The propaganda would rule.

Dave Chappelle is the black Lenny Bruce. I’m sure there are stronger encomiums than that, but right now I can’t think of any. Lenny Bruce is my favorite Jewish comedian, and Dave Chappelle is my most beloved black comic. And this is not because they are all that funny. Oh, yes, they are both way up there on my humor-meter; they are each side splittingly hilarious. Rather, my veneration of them is because of their magnificent courage. Lenny Bruce attacked putting people in jail for using the F word, and for incarcerating adults who took prohibited drugs. Dave Chappelle has done magnificent work for free speech.

Thomas Paine (1737-1809) is a figure from our revolutionary past who emerged from obscurity to upset the world with his popular writings. “He wrote the three top-selling literary works of the eighteenth century, which inspired the American Revolution, issued a historic battle cry for individual rights, and challenged the corrupt power of government churches,”researcher Jim Powell tells us.
After enduring a long illness Paine, 72, died in Greenwich Village, New York City on June 8, 1809. Though he was known throughout the world his friends, such as they were, were in short supply. Wikipedia says only “six mourners came to his funeral, two of whom were black, most likely freedmen.” The free world had abandoned Paine. Why?
The transcript is not yet available and no reporters were allowed. But from the Attorneys General who brought the suit, the plaintiffs in the case and their attorney, and other parties to the lawsuit against the Biden administration, we have some information about the deposition provided by Anthony “I am the Science” Fauci. He has been the face of the pandemic response and stands accused of colluding with Big Tech to suppress dissent in violation of the First Amendment.
The question of whether the deposition was to be public was itself the subject of legal attention. The Department of Justice filed to block all recording and personally identifiable information for fear of public harassment, and this condition was granted. As a result, we have no transcript (yet) and one senses a great skittishness even from those who were there to explain the fullness of what transpired. Major national media have shown no interest in getting the story.
