14-Year-Old’s Death After Pfizer COVID Shot a “Significant Public Concern,” Coroner Says

An inquest on July 18, 2023 in Swinford, Ireland revealed that a 14-year-old Irish schoolboy collapsed at home and died 24 days after receiving his first dose of Pfizer/BioNTech’s Comirnaty messenger RNA (mRNA) COVID-19 shot on Aug. 20, 2021. Historically, inquests investigate suspicious or mysterious deaths and set precedents for the medical community, bridging the gap between criminal justice and public health. The multi-day inquest for the family of Joseph McGinty is in progress and a jury will hear evidence surrounding the teenager’s sharp decline and death less than a month after being administered the COVID shot.¹

According to his mother, Joseph fell ill on a trip to Dublin a week after his vaccination and began experiencing weakness and vomiting. The boy was then admitted to Mayo University Hospital where he was refused the necessary scans and X-rays due to staffing shortages at the facility. According to the preliminary inquest hearing in April 2023, Joseph continued to deteriorate medically. Finally, he collapsed at home on Sept. 13, 2021 and was pronounced dead in the ambulance, despite efforts to

revive him.¹

Coroner Links Child’s Death to Reaction to COVID Shot

Coroner Patrick O’Connor publicly linked the minor’s death to a reaction to the vaccine, saying:

 The circumstances of Joseph McGinty’s death is that COVID vaccination was administered to him. That there appears to have been either a reaction or a significant change in his medical circumstances following the administration of the vaccine and that subsequently, unfortunately, Master McGinty died.¹

O’Connor also called for a “considerable investigation into the vaccine, the effects of the vaccine and also the effects of the vaccine on Master McGinty.”¹ In December 2022, Pfizer requested all relevant medical records of Joseph McGinty to get a full overview of the boy’s medical condition prior to his death, O’Connor said.²

At the preliminary inquest in April, O’Connor in his public comment explained that the inquest was not a public inquiry into the administration of the COVID shot itself but rather an inquiry in public into the untimely and unexplainable death of a child. “That may be a matter for the government at a future date,” he said. “This is an inquiry into the death of one man, Joseph McGinty.”²

Pfizer’s Chief Witness Attends Hearing Virtually Amid Alleged Social Media Threats

Dr. Gillian Ellsbury, Pfizer’s vaccines medical director in the United Kingdom and chief witness in the case, was due to appear at the July 2023 inquest but did not attend in person after allegedly receiving threats on social media regarding vaccines. Representing Pfizer Ireland, Roddy Bourke of McCann Fitzgerald in Dublin requested permission for Ellsbury to attend the inquest virtually amid the alleged threats, but shared outside the courtroom that it was Pfizer officials—not police—who discouraged Ellsbury’s in-person attendance.³

The July 18 hearing was the fourth preliminary hearing following the opening of the inquest last November. The 14-year-old’s death, according to O’Connor, is an issue of “significant public concern.” However, official findings about cause of death could take months or years.
