Trump’s Deplorable UN Address
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
His bombastic raving was a shameless demagogic exercise. Whoever wrote it should be sacked.
No responsible leader would touch it. He should have slept in late Tuesday morning, instead of showing up on time.
The address was an embarrassment to the office he holds. It
highlighted his hawkish recklessness, starting off by praising a
potemkin economy, benefitting the privileged few at the expense of most
others.
He praised America’s killing machine, its military might, unleashed
without mercy against invented enemies – countries threatening no one,
smashed for not surrendering their sovereignty to America’s.
State-sponsored terrorism, using ISIS and likeminded death squads,
are humanity’s only threats – headquartered in Washington with branch
offices in other NATO capitals, Israel, Saudi Arabia and other rogue
regional states.
The only “great peril” Trump cited is made in the USA and its
partnered countries – not in Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Syria, or
elsewhere.
Trump and others in Washington don’t give a damn about “lift(ing)
millions from poverty…helping our citizens realize their dreams,
and…ensur(ing) that new generations of children are raised free from
violence, hatred, and fear.” Just the opposite.
America is the greatest purveyor of imperial wars, related violence,
and exploitive viciousness, worsening over time, growing increasingly
more dangerous.
Trump sounded buffoon-like claiming “(i)n America, we do not seek to
impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an
example for everyone to watch.”
“In America, the people govern. The people rule, and the people are
sovereign. I was elected not to take power, but to give power to the
American people, where it belongs.”
Perhaps a modern-day Rip Van Winkle, awakened after years asleep,
might believe this rubbish, no one else – other than the lame, halt,
deaf and blind to reality.
Trump’s tirade included beginning-to-end deception, countless Big
Lies, disgraceful demagoguery, his agenda and regime he represents polar
opposite what he presented – prioritizing endless wars of aggression,
deploring peace and stability, mocking democratic values, trashing rule
of law principles.
In front of the world body and its officials, he was a laughing
stock, no one to take seriously, a menace to fear, his rage for endless
wars of aggression humanity’s greatest threat.
He’s a front man for a nation bent on world conquest and dominance,
demanding all countries bow to its will, exploiting its own people like
others abroad.
He lied about North Korea, insulted its leader disgracefully, lied
about Iran, lied about Hezbollah, lied about Syria’s Assad, lied
implying the Saudi dictatorship and other regional rogue states are
responsible ones.
He failed to explain America’s lead role in manufacturing “radical
Islamic terrorism.” ISIS and likeminded groups didn’t materialize out of
thin air, nor their heavy weapons. America supplied them to the
cutthroat killers it created, along with its rogue partners.
Trump’s “new strategy for victory” in Afghanistan is endless war
without resolution, maybe for another 16 years, a few trillion more
dollars wasted, the same “strategy” pursued in other US war theaters and
new ones planned.
Hawkish administration and Pentagon generals running America’s
killing machine seek escalated war in Syria, not “de-escalation,” as
Trump claimed, pouring billions of dollars of weapons and munitions into
the country, intending a steady flow for years to come, earmarked for
anti-government terrorists, likely planning more CW attacks to falsely
blame on Assad.
Trump is an embarrassment to the office he holds, a rogue actor, a war criminal, a despicable caricature of a leader.
No amount of speechmaking can conceal his deplorable agenda. Humanity trembles at what he has in mind next.
