MUSK’S COMPUTER CENTER: THE “NEW GOD”?
Here's one for the "things that make you go 'Hmmmm...'" category. K.M. saw this and shared it, and I have to say, even though it's a short video, it's well worth contemplating. Indeed, it's downright provocative and chilling. Musk is in an interview with Dr. Jordan Peterson, and then comments about his new super-computer data processing center in Memphis... the one in Tennessee, not Egypt:

Now, in case you're wondering just exactly what this super-computer center is doing, here's a little explanation:

xAI's supercomputer is being used largely for its artificial intelligence, Grok. In December 2023, Grok was introduced on the social media platform, X. The app was formerly known as Twitter and was rebranded after Musk purchased the company in 2022.
In July 2024, X began using user posts without asking for consent to train the Grok software. (X users can opt out of the service by deactivating it in the settings tab.)
There you have it: the center it to be connected to Twitter/X's artificial intelligence program, Grok.
Needless to say I have some high octane, off-the-end-of-the-twig speculation about all of this, beginning with Musk's comment to Jordan Peterson that perhaps this center is "where our new God will come from," this, after having mentioned that the choice of the town had something to do with the capital of ancient Egypt. All of this coming from the man who, a few years ago, was raising warnings about artificial intelligence programs perhaps opening gateways, or transducing, "something" - some form of life very different than our own, and something very diabolical. And here we are again, only now the "something" might turn out to be "our new God." This from someone who wants to put his "neura-link" into people's brains. As usual, we're being told about all the wonderful benefits this might have: the blind might see, the deaf might hear, the paralyzed might walk. Miracles of healing! Behold your new God. Or perhaps, just an old one, saying "behold, I can give you all the kingdoms of the earth..." But the price - worshipping that new god - was just too much to pay. But the dangers, apparently, were not enough to dissuade Mr. Musk: like all scientismists and technocrats, he's got to do it lest someone else get a competitive edge. Better the devil be on our side, than someone else's.
Mr. Musk is, in short, a transhumanist, a technocrat, who cannot distinguish between technological mimickry, and the real thing. Indeed, for him, there probably is no "real thing," only the process of mimickry, an "anti-Christ" that is not so much anti as in the sense of against, but rather, anti in its other sense as "in the place of"... as a substitute for.
Whatever the answer to that speculation may be, there is an even deeper one. We've all been watching - breathlessly - as fraud after fraud is being exposed by DOGE. Supposedly this is all being done by very smart computer programmers utilizing an entity within the government established under the Obama Administration. So much the better, as far as I am concerned, if elements of the government established to plunder and pillage and defraud and oppress the people are turned against the people doing that plundering, pillaging, fraud, and oppression. Yours, and my, social security endangered because they've been paying benefits to people 300 years old (and if that doesn't raise some off-the-end-of-the-twig speculations!)??!!?? But here's my difficulty: is all this being done simply by young brilliant programmers with their laptops plugged into government networks? Or are they also plugged into that center in Memphis, and its vast computing power?
It seems to me at least to be a possibility, one that, at least, should be mentioned and raised. We can all see the what being done. We understand the why... because it's decades overdue. But I want to know more about the question that has not been adequately answered; I want to know about the how. And I don't mean I want to know the glittering generalities. I want and desire those glittering generalities, but I also want to know the nuts and bolts, the specifics. Until then, only 2 1/3 cheers for what DOGE is doing, but that missing 2/3ds of a cheer is because no one is really clear as to how it's being done.
And as for his "new God"? No thanks, or as Someone Else once said, "Get thee hence..."
