“.. .nurses should keep themselves up to date and rely on the precautionary approach to educate their clients to use fluoridated toothpaste and eliminate fluoridated water, whenever possible…” - Water Fluoridation: When current research contradicts public practices. Councilors -
The quote above cites the position of the editorial staff of the medical journal, Public Health Nursing,
as written in this month’s issue. Every nursing organization in the
country is currently aware of the findings of modern science that dams
fluoridation as a public harm policy.
The
path to this decision began with the Sept. 2017 study my local
colleagues and I brought to the attention of the Gloucester City Council
in January-February 2018 (Bashash et al. 2017). Throughout 2018, I
continued to bring studies to the city’s attention. Since then, there
has been a series of similar high quality NIH sponsored 2019-2020
studies performed by teams of top researchers with the same findings -
that when infants are exposed in the womb to fluoridated water
from their mother’s consumption or/and have formula prepared with
fluoridated water, they are at significantly higher risk of having
learning disabilities and a lower IQ, by about 5 points per mg/L of
consumption.
In August 2019, the editors of the top pediatric journal in the world, JAMA Pediatrics,
also went on record with their reservations about fluoridation practice
in regards to pregnant women in response to a 2019 study.
“I would advise them (pregnant women) to drink bottled water or filtered water...” - Dimitri Christakis, MD, MPH, editor in chief of JAMA Pediatrics on “Association Between Maternal Fluoride Exposure During Pregnancy and IQ Scores in Offspring in Canada” (August 19, 2019)
This month, the Journal of Pediatrics, also highly ranked and well regarded, published the following specific to formula preparation:
“Meanwhile, since the beneficial effects of fluoride predominantly occur at the tooth surface after teeth have erupted, whereas fluoride is not essential for growth and development, a cautious step could be avoidance of fluoridated products and water by women during pregnancy and by infants during the first 6 months of life.” - Ingestion of infant formula constituted from fluoridated water associated with IQ deficit. Morteza Bashash, PhD, MS and Howard Hu, MD, MPH, ScD. Journal of Pediatrics: Current Best Evidence. Vol. 222, p.253-257, JULY 01, 2020.

fluoride, see this August 2019 item signed by doctors, dentists and
scientists with extensive citations up to that date: http://fluoridealert.org/wp-content/uploads/spencer-2019.we-too.pdf

Despite
the tsunami of evidence that fluoride has a negative impact on brain
function, beginning in the womb, fluoridationist organizations persist
in spreading disinformation, primarily through endorsmental deceits but
also with out and out lies and bullying tactics. That said, in other
cities at least some dentists are privately phoning their city
councilors:
“I’ve had a number of dentists call me against fluoridation and they are very upset because they can’t really speak about it because they’re afraid of losing their licenses.” - Mark Stauer, City Council President in Green Bay, Wi (July 16, 2020)
Councilors,
I’ve my own personal challenges to deal with at the moment and
understand the issues created by COVID that are straining city
government, so I do not have any plans to mount a campaign involving the
City Council again, soon. However, you should know two things;
- The deaths from Covid 19 are associated with an inflammatory immune response involving a cytokine storm. Fluoride is an inflammatory drug that impacts the immune system and causes a cytokine response. even from consuming ‘optimally fluoridated water.’ In other words, some of us may be at higher risk of dying from Covid 19 because of fluoridation policy.
- Per a June Gloucester Times article, there is a lawsuit against the EPA that should reach some level of resolution in August. However, even if everything goes our way with the determination, the final and most immediate authority to end fluoridation in Gloucester rests with the City Council and involves evoking a Home Rule Exemption from state fluoridation law, Chapter 111 8C, in order to place a municipal ban on the artificial fluoridation practice..
- You will find that Senator Bruce Tarr’s office will be more than happy to assist you with that process.
- I suggest you place an immediate moratorium on fluoridation once you initiate your HR exemption request with the state pending the official approval.
- Despite claims to the contrary, neither a city referendum nor the city Dept of Public Health has the power to end fluoridation in MA once begun. You do.
Regards,
