As
those on the front lines of protecting children’s health and
preserving local control, we know that our work often requires doing the
hard things at inconvenient times. The holiday season may be busy, but
the stakes have never been higher — and now is the time for action. This season, federal agencies and Congress are pushing major policy changes that would allow industry to place cell towers and antennas virtually anywhere — including near homes, schools, playgrounds, and even houses of worship — all without informed consent, safety oversight, or accountability. Local communities would have no say in these decisions. Communities must activate now! Two major federal actions are moving quickly: FCC Docket 25-276: A
sweeping proposal to expand federal preemption, force rapid approvals,
eliminate meaningful community participation, and allow wireless
facilities almost anywhere. H.R. 2289:
A bill that would let federal agencies and telecom companies
override local governments, bypass key environmental and
historic-preservation reviews, and expand towers with little notice or
public input.
These
actions threaten community health, safety, privacy, property values,
and the fundamental right of residents to decide what belongs in their
neighborhoods. |
