Another Step on the Path to Autocracy

I recently wrote that a 42-day government shutdown is hard evidence that American democracy is dysfunctional and on its way out. Indeed, federal courts made rulings hastening the end of democracy.
The government has reopened, but lasting damage was done.Federal courts ordered President Trump to fund the SNAP benefits even though Congress had not appropriated any money to fund the payments. In our political system it is Congress that authorizes expenditures, not judges and the president. Yet the necessity of feeding 42 million Americans who are entitled to be fed by working citizens caused federal judges to set aside Congress’ power over the budget and to attempt to place the power in the hands of the executive branch.
Of course, Congress was the culprit by refusing to pass a budget. Nevertheless, we are witnessing clear proof that US democracy is so dysfunctional that courts thought the balance of powers had to be set aside.
Government reopened in time for Congress to retain its power by exercising it, but a further step has been taken in the transition from democracy to autocracy.

Tyranny Is Creeping Upon Us and We Don’t Know It

Yesterday, November 12, the same day I published my article about the threat AI poses to humanity, Peter Koenig reached the same conclusion, “The Digital Gulag Is the Guillotine for a Sovereign Humanity.” https://www.globalresearch.ca/digital-gulag-guillotine-sovereign-humanity/5905422
I received his article with this note:
“All thinking people know that digitization will lead us to a bottomless prison with shackles, of no escape.
“That’s where we are going in “warp speed” to use one of President Trump’s terms (May 2020), when he said he wanted to save humanity by developing a vaccine against covid in “warp speed”… (the term originally stems from “Star Trek” of the 1960’s).
“Now that we know what “warp speed” means, you can imagine what it means when we are moving in “warp speed” towards full digitization. Once we are there, there will be no way out – although humanity always has some ingenious people… but the challenge is huge.
“This is not to scare the reader, not at all, but to make readers of all ages aware of the danger that we are running and running towards fast, because we are choosing blindness (darkness) over sight and over light.
“Even at the cost of some Instant “comfort”, digitization is humanity’s demise.
“Think Analog. Analog has given us a happy and free life, free of control – or at least much freer than today – and, as compared to these days – censorship was almost non-existent, if judged by today’s standards.
“The Age of Analog – of course, disappeared gradually, but only 30 years ago was still alive and kicking.
Since then we have given in to the lie-industry, to the media and to our governments, and those who pull the strings behind these governments – to what they have sold us as “comfort” – which are eventually shackles in an unescapable prison.
“We must go back to Analog. It is possible and it is a MUST.”
Western peoples naively believe that they live in democracies over which voting gives them some control. The facts are entirely different. There are numerous governmental and semi-governmental organizations at work creating tyranny of which the insouciant masses are unaware.
As the tyranny creeps, each generation is born into more tyranny and less freedom. As time passes, tyranny becomes the norm, and no one understands or even is aware of the transformation into thought and behavior control that has been accomplished.
