Healthy babies born to hepatitis B–negative mothers are no longer automatically recommended to receive the vaccine at birth

 

Dear Friend, For years—decades, really—we were told this conversation would never happen. We were told the questions were dangerous. We were told the science was settled. We were told that parents who asked for proof were the problem. And yet, something remarkable happened. Inside the CDC’s own Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)—inside the "castle walls"—scientists openly debated the hepatitis B birth dose. Not on fringe platforms. Not in podcasts. Not in court filings alone. But on the public record, in front of the entire nation. And for the first time, ACIP’s recommendation changed. Healthy babies born to hepatitis B–negative mothers are no longer automatically recommended to receive the vaccine at birth. Instead, shared decision-making is now recognized. Parents are back in the conversation. That moment didn’t come easily.  It came after years of legal pressure, public education, court battles, expert testimony, and relentless insistence on one simple principle: informed consent is not negotiable. This was one of those milestones you pray for but never quite expect to see. But let’s be clear—this is not the end of the fight. You see, to some, like the Washington Post, the entire CDC-ACIP meeting was a sham–a “megaphone to the anti-vaccine movement.”  In the article, the Post omitted the credentials of Dr. Robert Malone, chair of the CDC committee, and made multiple direct attacks on ICAN attorney Aaron Siri, saying, “Public health advocates were especially shocked at the CDC giving platform to Aaron Siri, a Kennedy ally and lawyer for the anti-vaccine movement…the unusual scene of an attorney with no medical degree making a scientific presentation drew condemnation from health organizations and lawmakers.” I can assure you they are hitting back because we are hot over the target of Big Pharma and Big Government. They are still committed to a system that injects first and asks questions never. And this is why I am writing to you today. If supporters like you take a step back, they will make every effort to reclaim this lost ground quickly. Your year-end gift keeps us in the room, in the hearings, in the courts, and on the record.
