Medicines are not evolving as fast as the multinational companies
would like them to. Many drugs which have been around for a while don’t
generate any more income because the costs of the patents have already
been written off. So in order to make money, big companies nowadays are
constantly
looking for new opportunities and new drugs. And they are prepared to go to any extreme to make money. France is the biggest consumer of medicine in Europe, and every year 500 new drugs are poured into the French market. But before they make their way into our medicine cabinet, they have all been tested by human guinea pigs who loan their body to science. Today, half the clinical trials done by Western countries are being conducted in emerging markets
